WASHINGTON, D.C. – Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) Board Member Aram A. Gavoor was honored with the 2017 Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award from The George Washington University (GWU) Law School on May 21, 2017.
“I am delighted to present the 2017 Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award to Professorial Lecturer in Law Aram Gavoor for his outstanding teaching and record of service,” GWU Law School Dean Blake D. Morant stated during the commencement ceremony. “Professor Gavoor, many thanks indeed for your outstanding efforts and substantial contributions you continue to make to our law school,” he added.
Gavoor has been a member of the GWU Law School’s adjunct faculty since 2008, and currently teaches Administrative Law and Government Lawyering. He is an advocate and scholar who specializes in administrative law, federal courts, and constitutional law. Gavoor has litigated federal court appellate and trial cases involving high profile challenges to statutes, regulations, and policies. His cases have been covered by The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Politico, and The Huffington Post.
Gavoor completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, went on to receive his J.D. from GWU, and earned an LL.M. from Georgetown University.
“We are all proud to see Aram’s talents acknowledged with this award. We know how seriously he takes his teaching responsibilities as well as his professional work, and it is wonderful to have an Armenian Assembly board member recognized this way,” stated Assembly Co-Chairs Anthony Barsamian and Van Krikorian.
He is an alumnus of the Assembly’s Terjenian-Thomas internship in the summer of 2003, where he worked with then-Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT). Gavoor is also a frequent speaker at intern and other Assembly events in Washington, D.C. This summer, he will be meeting with the Assembly’s internship class to share insight and guidance for those who are interested in pursuing a career in law.
“Mr. Gavoor’s advice on forging a successful legal career using the knowledge and experience gained at the Assembly will be invaluable to our current class of interns. We are all eager to sit down with him next month and learn from him,” Assembly Terjenian-Thomas Intern Coordinator Robert Arzoumanian said.
