Assembly to Host Special Armenian Wine Dinner in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA - The Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) will host a special Armenian Wine Dinner on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the renowned Armenian-owned Momed Modern Mediterranean Restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

The event - which will highlight 7-generations of winemaking and diasporan investment in Armenia - will feature Paul Kalemkiarian, host of Wine Talks With Paul K, and also an Armenian Assembly of America intern alumnus. The evening will consist of unique Armenian wines and food pairings, along with a four-course meal, curated by Chef Vartan Abgaryan and Sommelier Anush Gharibyan O'Connor, co-founder of Gini Fest.

"In the 35 years I have been tasting and curating wines, I have never seen the acceleration to market as in the Armenian wine trade," said Kalemkiarian. "This pace can only come from a deep commitment from the wineries and the supporting groups to promote and appreciate the effort."

He emphasized the importance of the economic import of wine to a growing nation like Armenia, a country that is "arguably in the cradle of wine history" and is receiving "worldwide recognition for the quality the winemakers are producing."

"The efforts of the Armenian Assembly to wave the flag to young interns throughout the US to participate and learn about this new frontier is invaluable," he said. "I can say from my perspective, my summer in Washington DC in 1980 was a turning point in my appreciation of the Armenian culture, and my responsibility to understand and propagate it."

The event is open to Assembly Members and the general public. Proceeds will benefit the advocacy, education, and research programs of the Assembly. Please register for the Assembly's Armenian Wine Dinner hereSpace is limited, and early reservations are recommended.
