Los Angeles, CA - Final registration is underway for the Armenian Assembly of America's special Armenian Wine Dinner on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 6:30 pm at Armenian-owned Momed Modern Mediterranean Restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Limited seats are available. The unique event will highlight 7-generations of winemaking and diasporan investment and will consist of Armenian wines and food pairings, along with a four-course meal, curated by Chef Vartan Abgaryan and Sommelier Anush Gharibyan O'Connor, co-founder of Gini Fest.

Born and raised in Armenia, Anush Gharibyan O’Connor is an independent wine consultant with a Bachelor’s Degree in Wine Making from the Armenian Agrarian University and an MBA in Marketing Management from the University of Dallas and Sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers. She also serves on the Assembly's LA County Regional Committee.

Anush has extensive experience in wine production, grape growing, sales and distribution, retail, education, events, and podcasting. Currently, she is the executive director of GiniFest, the Armenian Wine and Spirits Festival held annually in Los Angeles. She has also initiated a project, “Preserving Armenia’s Vines: Battling Phylloxera to Preserve a 6,100-Year-Old Heritage” undertaken by the Armenia Tree Project.

“Every wine event I curate revolves around a unique theme and narrative, designed to immerse attendees in the rich stories behind each bottle. My aim is to craft memorable and inspiring experiences that highlight the individuality of each producer," shared Anush.

Over the past years, Anush has championed the renaissance of the Armenian Wine Industry, helping to put Armenia on the global map of the wine world. Through her podcasts, she has learned and shared the stories of wine producers in Armenia. She has gained deep personal knowledge and understanding of what inspired them to make Armenian wine: cultivating indigenous varieties, using ancient wine-making techniques, and implementing modern wine technologies.

"The Assembly wine dinner is a celebration of a family winemaking tradition of 200 years, showcasing the craftsmanship and heritage passed down through generations. Alongside this legacy, we’ll feature a diasporan winemaker who brings fresh perspectives and innovative techniques to the table," continued Gharibyan.

This gathering offers a wonderful opportunity to bridge the “old” with the “new,” allowing guests to engage deeply with the history of winemaking while appreciating contemporary approaches.”
